Civitan Club Workshop
The Cobden Civitan Club will be sponsoring a series of workshops aimed at Whitewater Region businesses and organizations. The workshops which will be facilitated by Chris Hinsperger of The Delfi Group will help participants in their efforts to market their area, apply customer service and hiring standards and identify the marketing resources available in the Ottawa Valley. The workshops will be held at the Delicious Restaurant in Cobden. The first session on Monday March 30th called Destination Marketing for Rural Areas will help participants identify what it is that attracts people to our area and keeps them coming back. Session two on Monday April 6th will be on Customer Service and Hiring Standards and Practices will help participants understand the bigger picture they fit into when making decisions about staffing. The third and final session will be on Monday April 20th and participants will get to listen to a number of marketing professionals who help people market their Ottawa Valley Businesses. All sessions start at 7:00 PM and go until 9:00 PM with a networking opportunity after each session. The workshops a free of charge however a one time donation of $5 is asked for. Money collected will go to the Cobden Fire service. People are encouraged to bring promotional materials to be shared other businesses and organizations. |

The Magic of Woodwinds
Presented by St. Andrew’s United Church in Pakenham, 2585 Graham Street (Highway 29). The Five is a woodwind quintet that will perform music from around the globe in a concert entitled

Groves Park Lodge in Renfrew is “Steppin’ Into Spring” on Sunday, April 19th from 1pm to 4pm. It is the 3rd Annual Fundraising Dance for the Residents to be held in GEM HALL. Entertainment for the afternoon begins at 1:00 with fine fiddle tunes and square dances by “Ray Chapeskie and the Kashub Connection”. At 2:30, “The Valley Ramblers with Fiddler Dennis Harrington” will keep your toes tapping and feet moving until 4pm. The price of admission is only $7 per person. Food and drinks may be purchased at the dance and a 50/50 draw will be available. All the funds raised at the dance will go to financing electric recliners for our Residents comfort. Thanks go out to all the entertainers who are volunteering their time to put on a great party. Come and spend a wonderful afternoon taking in the sounds of the Valley from Wilno to Arnprior. Citizen of the Year Award: Do you know an individual who has had a special impact on our community through his/her volunteer activities? The recipient will have acted for the good of others and made a significant contribution of service during 2008.
Outstanding Business Achievement of the Year Award: Do you know a business that has been operating for more than 1 year, has a recent success story and/or demonstrated a strong commitment to their customers, employees and the community?
Community Organization of the Year: Do you know a non-profit group or organization that, through its work or special project has generated community pride and made a significant impact during 2008? They will also have shown continuing active interest in the welfare of the people of our area.

Killaloe Meeting on Access to Health Care
Killaloe's Rainbow Valley Community Health Centre is holding its annual meeting this Thursday evening, April 30th, at Killaloe Public School. The theme is "Accessing Health Care in the Community". The school opens at 6 P_M for a 'health fair', with displays and information from a range of health and social service providers in the Killaloe area. The meeting starts at 7 PM and features presentations on physical and mental health, and community social services. After that, there will be an open public forum, during which the audience will be invited to share views and recommendations on additions and changes needed in community health services. The meeting will end with refreshments and draws for door prizes. |
