Build a Snowchild
Renfrew - Low Square from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.
Renfrew County Family and Children Services (FCS) are offering a unique way for families to show their support for the local fostering community!!!
There are 280 children needing foster care in our county in any given month, there are only 140 foster homes ready to receive them.
This event is orchestrated to build awareness within our community of the need for Foster families and families looking to foster with a view to adopt.
Show your support by building a snowman- not just any snowman but a “snow child” that represents one of the children currently needing foster care in Renfrew County.
By simply calling prior to the event you will be given a profile of a child that you will then build on Monday, February 15 (Family Day) in Low Square.
By the end of the day, organizers hope to have a crowd of 280 snowmen standing in the park.
Families are being encouraged to dress their “snow child” in a snow suit or pants and a shirt. Usable clothing will be collected after the event and distributed to families in need.
We want families to be creative and to spend time talking to each other while they build,” says Lavallee. They might dress up the standard three stacked balls of snow, or they might stuff a snowsuit full of the white stuff and show the snow child skiing down a hill.
Participants can simply show up at Renfrew’s Town Hall the day of the event, but are encouraged to call prior to the event to receive a child’s name and description and plan their “snow child” in advance.
613-622-1482 or 613-433-3138.
Hot chocolate will be available free of charge. |
