Stay active this winter and Get W.I.T.H. [Walking in the Halls] It! Programs starts @ Beachburg Public School on Mon. Jan. 9th and is open every Monday and Wednesday from 5-6:45 pm until the end of March [cancelled on snow days & school holidays!]. Start date at Cobden Public School is Tues. Jan. 10th and every Tuesday from 5 - 7 pm. Everyone is welcome. This is a free program to walk with neighbours, friends and family for fun and fellowship in a safe, warm place in the colder winter months. You can come in anytime within these hours and walk for 5 minutes or the whole 2 hours. If you would like to be a 'Get W.I.T.H. Ski or snowshoe the trails and enjoy winter play on the beach. 11:30am - 1:00pm: Snow-Mazing Fun Hunt for giant coloured ice crystals in the snow maze, climb into a quinzee and stack square timber. Celebrate Literacy Day with a participatory reading of The Mitten featuring a giant mitten brought to you by our friends from the Toy Bus.   Opeongo Nordic's Third Annual Classic Loppet
Fun cross country classic ski races, to be held Sunday January 29, with a mass start at 11 a.m. Adult racers choose between 10 or 20 km distances on rolling and hilly intermediate terrain, or a more relaxed 5 km "social" course. Youth 18 and under will ski the 5 km course, and there is a rolling 2.5 km route for kids under 10. Registration online until 6 p.m. on January 28 at www.Zone4.ca (type in Opeongo), or at the club on January 29. from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The trails are located in Brudenell, between Eganville and Wilno. At Rtes 512 and 66 (Opeongo Road) turn left onto Drohan Road. The club is at the end of the road. All proceeds will go to funding the operating costs of this volunteer-run non-profit organization that provides and maintains groomed cross country ski trails for low-cost public use.
