Police Investigate Classified Ad Scam

Killaloe OPP investigating an attempted internet overpayment scam.   Police say in this recent case, the scammer responded to an ad on Kijiji and offered to send a money order or cheque for more than the amount of the purchase. The victim is asked to cash the money order and refund the buyer the overpayment amount. However police say once the victim cashes the money order or cheques, they are returned as NSF by the bank. The victim is then out their money and the buyer is long gone.
